Olle Eksell is one of my all time favorite Swedish Designers. Actually, one of my favorites internationally also! My eager little fingers trembled when I grabbed this book celebrating his work. On the cover you get the impression of a very level-headed and sensible illustrator, sparse in gestures with very cool color palette and economy of expression. Well, my friends, that’s one side of him… But just do me a favor and look at the book covers below: Bold and outrageous – I think we have a crazy guy with a complex personality here…
The book celebrating his work was published in April, 2011: Olle Eksell – Swedish Graphic designer. Have patience with all my picture avalanche and scroll down to see it.
Olle Eksell, one of the most respected and distinguished Swedish graphic designers. Born in 1918 in Åls, Sweden. In 1955 he designed the well-known eye logo for Mazetti Cacao.
In the sixties he argued that form, design and economy was tightly knit, and got much attention for his book Design=Economy .
He passed away in 2007 at the age of 87, leaving a legacy of advertising posters, logos, postcards, illustrations, products and more – all charmingly beautiful and interesting.
